Nemadji Pottery is handmade in the Native American style and no two pieces are alike. This pottery is unglazed and rustic on the outside - but glazed inside for use. The production of the pottery ended in 2001. Nemadji Tile and Pottery started production in Moose Lake, Minnesota in 1923. Originally producing Nemadji tile, Nemadji Pottery was produced during the Depression to fuel tourist markets, usually in the western and northeastern U. S. The pottery was marketed as "resembling" ancient Indian works. This is when Nemadji pottery became known as "Indian" pottery. The last Nemadji Pottery was produced during 2002.
